My Story

The month of June is a time to raise awareness of the condition that Louis was born with; Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia (CDH)

Louis was born on 1 July 2005 with undiagnosed CDH, a hole in his diaphragm, and once diagnosed, had surgery to correct this at Great Ormond Street Hopsital when he was 7 days old. Louis was very lucky to receive successful surgery but CDH often causes further health issues such as reflux, asthma, feeding issues and many others. Louis struggled with feeding and still suffers with asthma but will turn 14 in a month and is a wonderful, healthy, energetic young chap!

We have received huge support from CDH UK, particularly when Louis was very young and we like to help the charity remain in a position to support others on their CDH journey. It is important to remember Louis was a very lucky boy indeed to receive a diagnosis at Homerton Hospital and world class surgery at GOSH. Currently the prognosis (outlook) for babies diagnosed with CDH remains statistically at 50% and Louis and I would like to continue to help fund research into helping others.

Please support us on our marathon in a month with whatever donation you can. Your money will be used to support those affected by CDH in the future. THANK YOU!
